Sports Massage
As an athlete you hope to prevent injury and reach the peak of physical condition in time for your next challenge; sports massage can help at various stages in this process:-
- During training - helps to relieve the aches and pains from intense training and and prevent overuse injuries.
- Pre-event massage - prepares the body for competition. Often an aid psychologically, either for stimulation or relaxation, it will also assist in the reduction of muscular or tendon injury.
- Post-event massage - ideal in promoting recovery, assisting in the removal of lactic acid.
- Prevention - a massage at least once a week as part of a training program. Massage increases the flow of blood and nutrients to the muscle and helps repair small tears formed as a result of strenuous activity.
